Introduction

Based on the modular system, HTML5 web pages can embed different sorts of content. An external application like Flash, another HTML document, an audio track, a video or an image.

HTML5 allows embedding of multimedia by using the audio and video elements. The multimedia Flash, Java applets and PDF use for this purpose the object element.

All these embeddings in an HTML document are produced with external files.

Next to it we see another category of embedding where the XML applications MathML and SVG, and XML data are included in a HTML5 page as independent files (*.mml, *.svg) or as elements, modules (<math>...</math>, <svg ... >...</svg>) inside the HTML mark up.
